Racing in 2020: The Urban Bourbon Half Marathon Safety Changes

Disclaimer: I received an entry to the Urban Bourbon Half Marathon to review as part of being a BibRave Pro. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Pro (ambassador), and check out to review find and write race reviews!

Stating the obvious here: Everything in 2020 is so different and racing is no exception! How bad do you miss it? I know opinions vary, but I am really starting to miss the race morning routines, getting up early, eating my pre-race breakfast and heading out the door. In Louisville, the running community is close knit and you were sure to get a few hugs and high-fives as you lined up in the corral pre-COVID19!

While racing has been paused, many race directors had the chance to regroup and reorganize in order to put on a safer racing experience for their runners. While I have not been racing, I’ve been watching races across the United States and it is interesting to see the changes/improvements made related to runner safety. The Urban Bourbon Half Marathon in Louisville, KY is one of those races. As of today, the race is still a GO for in real life (IRL) racing. This was the latest we received in their August newsletter:

Calling all runners!

Some of their changes, including a course location change, were also listed in their newsletter and are found on the website:

If you are interested in signing up for this race, don’t forget about the cool bourbon themed swag and medal! You can register at and use code BOURBONRAVE20 for 10% off your registration. (If the race If the race is cancelled, we will offer refunds or no-cost deferrals.)

Loving this 2020 medal!
